But even in times of peace, monuments and archaeological sites remain vulnerable. Indeed, the high value of cultural objects on the antiquities' market has led to the rise of a transboundary illegal traffic in the region. This publication provides suggestions on how capacity-building activities can be carried out at sub-regional and national level to protect this heritage at risk.
