abstractLatin American Museological Theory: Protohistory presents a trilingual version—in Spanish, Portuguese and English—of the first texts written by Latin American authors since the beginning of ICOFOM. They had originally been included both in the Museological Working Papers (MuWoP) and the ICOFOM Study Series (ISS) released between 1981 and 1989, the latter being the date of the creation of ICOFOM LAM. This compilation represents a sort of protohistory of the theoretical papers produced in Latin America and provided by authors from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela. This volume is the first one of the series Latin American Museological Theory Fundamental Papers. This series is intended for the collection and dissemination of paradigmatic texts from the region and now crystallises thanks to a special fund granted by the Strategic Allocation Review Committee (SAREC).
