abstractThis research report examines the integration of ICT in museums in Buenos Aires, Córdoba, and Rosario. Directed by Verónica Graciela Weber and Sandra Escudero, the study evaluates how ICT is being used in seventeen museums, identifying the implementation, types of use, and perspectives of professionals. Visits and observations revealed a limited and uncreative use of ICT, where they are mostly employed as an addition to existing technologies rather than enhancing new forms of interaction and narrative. The research proposes establishing a baseline for future evaluations and improvements, emphasizing the importance of training museum staff in the use of these technologies to leverage their potential in creating enriched experiences and fostering contemporary citizenship. The methodology included interviews and questionnaires with museum directors and staff, as well as the observation of physical and virtual presentations, evaluating the presence of Wi-Fi, QR codes, projectors, monitors, and interactive spaces. The use of web portals and social networks was also evaluated, highlighting the lack of downloadable applications and the use of advanced technologies such as augmented reality and geolocation. In conclusion, the study identifies an insufficient integration of ICT in Argentine museums and underscores the need for conceptual and structural changes for ICT to become effective tools for participation and learning in these cultural spaces.
