Résumé (en anglais)

The book is the result of the revision of my writings, the reorganization of my observations made on site and the review of the literature known to me on the subject of Ilha de Moçambique and its fortress. My attention to this heritage follows the perspectives of knowledge, conservation and utility. Ilha de Moçambique, with its geographical context, is a site registered since 1991 in the World Heritage List of UNESCO. My cultural interest on the architectural and natural heritage of Mozambique began in 1993, but structured in 2004 following a study carried out on the church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição in the city of Inhambane. My revised writings are: Ibo Island in the Quirimbas Archipelago. An architectural heritage within a natural heritage. Conservation Science in Cultural Heritage (2019); The Saint Sebastian fortress on the Island of Mozambique. The conservation of a foreign heritage, International Congress “Preserving Transcultural Heritage: Your Way or My Way?” (2017); A heritage of coral stone (2016); Conservation of Coral Stone Architectural Heritage on the Coast of East Africa, Procedia - Social and Behavioral Sciences (2016); Conservation of the Fortress of São Sebastião, Ilha de Mozambique, WMF Journal (2014); Conservation of ancient coral stone buildings. Dois casos ao longo da costa Moçambicana (2005, in collaboration with Mohammed Arif). Many field observations were made from 2002 to 2016. The sources and bibliographic references of the various documents used in the text are all duly cited.
