Abstract (in English)

Usually, cultural heritage conservation and management have focused on heritage rescue and costeffectiveness (related with number of visits, resources, financing, sponsorship and balance sheets), whereas dialogue with visitors, democracy and involvement of community have been marginalized as secondary tasks. So, the emotional values can be lost in the process. This paper deals on those proceedings, discusses about dilemmas –and, above all, those related with recognition and emotional variables- cultural politics face with, particularly analyzing results in the case of restoration works in Vitoria’s Santa Maria Cathedral (Spain), where the strategy was focused by a meaningful slogan: “Opened by works”.
