In this article the author discusses the emergence of the new concept of cultural landscape in 1992, with the implementation of the Convention of cultural heritage. The concept of "relict" landscape, which is the case of some number of industrial landscapes, and the concept of "associative" landscape whose value is essentially immaterial are analyzed here to advocate that the category, the most dynamic, is that of vivid and evolving cultural landscapes, such as: agricultural landscapes. The author emphasizes the fact that so far the vineyards that have been inscribed on the World Heritage List, have been inscribed under the label of cultural landscapes. Furthermore, whether they were vineyards in the strict sense, or cultural landscapes including vineyards, these are serial properties , but extensive properties. All in all, the two dossiers that will be analyzed below present an originality. The dossier: Vineyard Slopes, Champagne Houses and Champagne Cellars is a serial property from a representative and lively agro-industrial landscape, the first of its kind, while the dossier: The climate vineyards of Burgundy is proposed as a cultural property, very representative of the French concept of terroir.

Dans cet article l’auteur traite de l’apparition de la nouvelle notion de paysage culturel en 1992 dans l’application de la Convention du patrimoine culturel, tout en analysant la notion de paysage « reliques », qui est le cas d’un certain nombre de paysages industriels et la notion de paysage « associatif », dont la valeur est essentiellement immatérielle; afin de préconiser que la catégorie, la plus dynamique, est celle de paysages culturels vivants et évolutifs, comme par exemple : les paysages agricoles. L’auteur met l’accent sur le fait que jusqu’à présent les vignobles qui ont été inscrits sur la liste du patrimoine mondial, l’ont tous été au titre de Paysages culturels, et qu’en outre, qu’il s’agisse de vignobles stricto-sensu, ou de paysages culturels comprenant des vignobles, ce ne sont pas des biens en série, mais des biens étendus. En somme, les deux dossiers qui vont être analysés prochainement présentent une nouveauté. Le dossier champenois : Coteaux, caves et Maisons de Champagne est un bien en série issu d’un paysage agro-industriel vivant, le premier du genre, alors que le dossier: Les climats de Bourgogne est proposé en tant que bien culturel, représentatif de la notion très française de terroir.
