Abstract (in English)

The European VerSus Project aims to analyse vernacular heritage, in order to apply its contribution into the design of sustainable architecture. An amazing gathering of images has been collected from the field surveys carried out by the project partners in Portugal, Spain, Italy and France. These images illustrate a set of fifteen principles and more than one hundred environmental, socio-cultural and socio-economic sustainable strategies. These principles and strategies are applied to a selection of recent projects in each partner’s country. Architects and project designers are invited to acquire an inspiring force from the legacy of the constructive cultures standing in their territories.
