Abstract (in English)

In 1998 the city of Tlacotalpan, Veracruz, was selected by UNESCO to become part of the World Heritage List. However, the spirit of place has been exposed to many threats, such as the destruction of some of the traditional buildings and changes in cultural behavior. We have been identifying the causes for the abandoning or deterioration of the heritage and proposed several measures to the local authorities to prevent more destruction and to recover the heritage as a whole with all its immaterial expressions. In this proposal we are seeks ways for people to recover their pride in their cultural expressions and built heritage.
