Abstract (in English)

The various building events of the new castle of Padua were caused by a series of projects and works. After the first general foundation on Bartolomeo d'Alviano’s project in 1515, remarkable architectonic reforms have followed, though without stopping the building works. The most radical changes were ordered by Francesco Maria della Rovere and Guidobaldo di Urbino. It was only about the second half of the sixteenth century when the military complex reached the aspect that it still shows today, more or less defined as to its architectonic profile. This paper offers a first hypothesis about the following events of the building of the castle, taking into account the needs of conservation.
