Résumé (en anglais)

The 1976 ICOMOS Cultural Tourism Charter was adopted as the result of the International Seminar on Contemporary Tourism and Humanism held in Brussels the 8th and 9th November of 1976. It can be considered the first international document focused on the need for a responsible tourist approach to cultural heritage and it also anticipated the recognition of sites and monuments as a source of economic benefit and cultural education.

La Charte du tourisme culturel de l'ICOMOS de 1976 fut adoptée à l'issue du Séminaire international sur le tourisme contemporain et l'humanisme tenu à Bruxelles les 8 et 9 novembre 1976. Elle peut être considérée comme le premier document international axé sur la nécessité d'une approche touristique responsable du patrimoine culturel. Elle anticipait également la reconnaissance des sites et des monuments comme source de bénéfices économiques et d'éducation culturelle.
