The changing approach to heritage is passed from object to space, but space is so large that it will never be protected. 95% of the space beyond the heritage protection, it is at best partially managed sometimes as a sensitive area. Sets found there mutate, we have to control this movement: both the built environment, habitat, and the hollow space, which is the urban fabric.

L’évolution de l’approche du patrimoine est passée de l’objet à l’espace, mais l’espace est si considérable qu’il ne sera jamais protégé. 95% de l’espace patrimonial échappe à la protection, il est au mieux partiellement géré parfois comme zone sensible. Les ensembles qu’on y trouve mutent - occupants, usage, état… – il nous faut contrôler ce mouvement: tant pour l’espace bâti, habitat essentiellement, que pour l’espace en creux, qui est la trame urbaine.
