Résumé (en anglais)

The documentation presented here is intended as a contribution to the discussion that has been going on for years in expert circles about the upcoming update of the German Tentative List for UNESCO World Heritage and about possible candidacies from Germany for the European Heritage Label. The current status of the UNESCO World Heritage nominations and the UNESCO Tentative Lists as well as the EU cultural heritage sites, as they currently appear from the German perspective, are documented in brief form in the appendix. They are the starting point, not the subject of this publication. Instead, the focus is on the future development of programmes for the conservation and development of cultural heritage on an international scale. [Extract from the foreword]

Die hier vorgelegte Dokumentation versteht sich als Beitrag zu der schon seit Jahren in Expertenkreisen geführten Diskussion über die anstehende Fortschreibung der deutschen Tentativliste zum UNESCO-Welterbe und über mögliche Kandidaturen aus Deutschland für das Europäische Kulturererbe-Siegel. Der aktuelle Stand der UNESCO-Welterbeeintragungen und der UNESCO-Tentativlisten sowie der EU-Kulturerbestätten, wie sie sich aus deutscher Sicht gegenwärtig darstellen, sind im Anhang in knapper Form dokumentiert. Sie sind Ausgangspunkt, nicht Gegenstand dieser Veröffentlichung. Im Zentrum der Betrachtung steht vielmehr die zukünftige Entwicklung der Programme zur Erhaltung und Erschließung des kulturellen Erbes im internationalen Maßstab. [Auszug vom Vorwort]
