Introduced by Giovanni Carbonara, the book "Restauro conservativo e tutela ambientale: repertorio di realizzazioni e sperimentazioni (Conservative restoration and environmental protection: repertoire of completed works and experiments)" is composed of various sections that describe recent restoration works on the artistic heritage and environmental protection. The first section of this book focuses on conservative and reconstructive restoration with regard to historical and aesthetic values. Two cases of restoration and works directed and described by the author are published in this section. This chapter presents the first case: heavily damaged by the war between Albanians and Bosnian Serbs in 1999, the kulla Muskholaj in Deçan/Dečani was rehabilitated in 2008-2009, fully preserving the still existing parts and integrating the missing ones.
