The purpose of this document is to define the basic principles and practices applicable in the widest variety of cases internationally for the protection and conservation of the wooden built heritage with respect to its cultural significance. The words “wooden built heritage” refer here to all types of wooden buildings and other wooden structures that have cultural significance or are parts of historic places, and includes temporary, movable and evolving structures.

Lo scopo di questo documento è definire i principi di base e le pratiche applicabili nella più ampia varietà di casi a livello internazionale per la protezione e la conservazione del patrimonio costruito di legno rispetto al suo significato culturale. Le parole "patrimonio costruito di legno" si riferiscono qui a tutti i tipi di edifici di legno e altre strutture di legno che hanno un significato culturale o fanno parte di luoghi storici e includono strutture temporanee, mobili e evolutive.
