Abstract (in English)

The physionomy of an Imperial Roman private garden has been rehabilitated by an archaeological investigation (1997-1998). Accordingly, a hypothetical reconstruction of green antique spaces has been proposed.

La physionomie d'un jardin privé impérial romain a été réhabilitée par une intervention archéologique (1997-1998). En conséquence une reconstruction hypothétique des espaces verts antiques a été proposée. Quelques années après, quand l'emplacement devait être ouvert au public, les jardins, maladroitement reconstitués, ne tenaient pas compte des résultats des recherches précédentes. Le résultat final est, à l’heure actuelle, très loin d'une reconstruction didactique, précise, envisagée et basée sur l'évidence archéologique. Quelles sont les conclusions à retenir de ces interventions ? Nous essayerons d’analyser ici tous les problèmes et solutions qui ont été mis à jour pendant la réhabilitation et reconstruction du jardin en question.
