Résumé (en anglais)

The ancient sites in Israel, and mainly those dating aproximately to the years 3000-500 BCE, are stratified mounds, i.e. sites to where people in antiquity returned over and again, building their towns and houses on top of the ruins of their predecessors. The archaeological method of excavation of such sites is to excavate from the top of the mound downward, one stratum at the time, record its architectural components and subsequently to dismantly these remains for the excavation of the following (i.e. earlier) stratum.
