Abstract (in English)

The church of the benedictine abbey of Lambach, in Upper Austria, contains eleventh century mural paintings of the life of Christ ( ca. 1089 ). These are in the former west choir of which one portion is preserved in the upper section of the two west towers and in the arch which separates them. On a painted surface of approximately 200 square meters, 23 scenes and fragments of scenes, several isolated figures and an ornamental decoration can be noted. Moreover, it was possible to save some fragments which were above, in a crypt that had largely disappeared. Almost three quarters of the surface have been uncovered in the last ten years.
