Abstract (in English)

The book describes a first study by Maurizio Berti and Mohamad Arif on the knowledge and conservation of historic coral stone buildings in Mozambique. The study examines the entire problem of this type of construction in the region, and then discusses the physicochemical characteristics of the degradation phenomena, using specific examples of buildings on the Island of Mozambique classified in 1991 as World Heritage, and examples in the town of Inhambane where started the study. The book was a scientific initiative of the Faculty of Architecture and Physical Planning of the Eduardo Mondlane University, Maputo.
