Abstract (in English)
It is clear from the present change in the approach to the protection of historical monuments that the criteria adopted are now those of town-planning and that the basic concept is now the broader one of the protection of "cultural values" in general -by which is meant both man-made and natural treasures - and that we are moving towards creative incorporation of such values into man's environment. The protection of a monument is not now an aim but an active means for creating a living environment - the human and cultural background of our society.
