Abstract (in English)

Recent severe river floods have led to the organization of an international colloquium in Dresden in June 2014 dedicated to the issues of flood protection. The goal of that colloquium was to identify strategies and approaches for the preservation of urban and cultural landscapes along rivers and streams and for building environmentally-sound protection system. This international colloquium addressed conditions and experiences from different geographic, political, economic and cultural contextsprotection system. It identified a need for interdisciplinary actions through various concrete examples of existing flood protection building.
