Abstract (in English)
First, this paper deals with the issue of "conservation" and its evolution through the time. Then, it is dedicated to the specific case of the walled city of Fez. Indeed, Fez was declared a world heritage site in 1981 which constituted the first step in the establishment of a conservation policy for that site. Through the last three decades, strategies were set up in order to maintain and develop a cultural interest for that place, to protect and rehabilitate it. This text takes into account the legal framework and the financial aspects associated to the site management.
