Abstract (in English)

Workshop "Urban Architectural Heritage and Social Interaction" aims at understanding the heritage context in Rashid as Egyptian tentative world heritage city; estimating socio-economically how the local community deals with their surrounding cultural heritage; what their requirements are; and how far they welcome the heritage tourism in their historic city. This (workshop) was made, in collaboration with Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities (Administration of Cultural Development and Community Engagement, Minister Office – Museums Sector: National Rashid Museum), possible (in part) through the support of the small grants program (Cycle 1 - Round 3) of the Arab Council of the Social Sciences with funding from the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA). Moreover, Australia ICOMOS honoured a workshop sharing internationally its outcomes via Australia ICOMOS e-mail News No. 804.
