Abstract (in English)
This dissertation is entitled Cultural significance as a criterion for the conservation of World Heritage and consists of a study on the conservation of the civil heritage architectural of the Historic Centre of Olinda (CHO), State of Pernambuco - Brazil. Their spatial and temporal clippings correspond respectively to the Residential Sector Rigorous (SRR) and the period between the 1970 and 2000. Cultural significance constitutes the central concept of research and its preservation is at the core of contemporary heritage conservation since the 1990s. The research problem is related to the promotion of the architectural interventions in civil set heritage which altering typological and morphological attributes that may be contributing to the loss of urban, architectural, artistic and landscaped values that justified to qualify the site as a Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 1982. Contributes to the problem the fact that the licensing of the architectural project that is not oriented from the perspective of cultural significance. Considering the above, the overall objective defined was to propose a set of criteria for evaluating architectural interventions promoted in all civil architectural heritage based on conservation of cultural significance in order to contribute to the integrated conservation of the Historic Center of Olinda (CHO). The specific objectives defined were: 1) Build a prototype of the Statement of Cultural Significance of the CHO. To bring it into effect, analysis was performed on Documentation Registration of Olinda in the World Heritage Centre (1982) and analysis of transcription of individual qualitative interviews and group applied to the subjects involved in the conservation of the site for knowledge of the values assigned in the present moment and that should guide conservation actions, 2) Discuss concepts of architectural intervention in historic sites and the approach of regulatory instruments that guide the licensing of interventions in the Residential Sector Rigorous; 3) Propose a set of evaluation criteria of the architectural intervention promoted in the SRR for conservation of the cultural significance of the site.
